The year 2011 has also brought about change in our team in Finland,
in the form of a new appointment:

• D.Sc. (Tech.), EMBA Leni von Bonsdorff has been appointed as Managing Director of Sanquin Oy, now that Leo Hertogs is retiring. Leni has  previously worked as the Country Manager of Sanquin Oy.

Sanquin Oy provides a broad range of plasma products for the benefit of Finnish patients. Our comprehensive product portfolio is developed to meet the special requirements of Finnish patients and hospitals e.g. in the treatment of bleeding disorders, antibody deficiencies, and hereditary angioedema.

Sanquin’s transferrin shows positive results in β-thalassaemia disease model

In an animal model of ß-thalassaemia, transferrin has been shown to have a positive effect on several of the clinical parameters normally affected in ß -thalassaemia in man: it increased hemoglobin levels, normalized red blood cell survival and reduced the enlargement of the spleen.
