Sanquin Oy provides a broad range of plasma products for the benefit of the Finnish patients. Our comprehensive product portfolio is developed to fulfill the special requirements of the Finnish patients and hospitals e.g. in treatment for bleeding disorders, antibody deficiencies and hereditary angioedema. We develop co-operation with physicians and hospitals, arrange training for health care professionals, and provide comprehensive information on product and therapy areas. In addition Sanquin is seeking new service models and works actively in order to bring new products to the Finnish market.

Continuity of Operation and Research Are Important for Sanquin
The operational principles of Sanquin are guided by our owner, the Dutch not-for profit organization Sanquin Foundation. These principles include continuity of operations and ensuring long-term availability of medicinal products in all market situations. According to the not-for-profit principles, research and development form also an important part of our activity. Sanquin participates actively in basic research, and develops new plasma products also for rare diseases.

Sanquin’s transferrin shows positive results in β-thalassaemia disease model

In an animal model of ß-thalassaemia, transferrin has been shown to have a positive effect on several of the clinical parameters normally affected in ß -thalassaemia in man: it increased hemoglobin levels, normalized red blood cell survival and reduced the enlargement of the spleen.
